
Although the company is only 22 years old, its personnel, coming from Alenia Spazio and various
European space industries, has been involved in numerous procurement programmes, covering the
whole spectrum of component types for spacecraft application.
TOP-REL engineers and managers have extensive experience in high reliability parts procurement
and problem resolution to ensure parts deliveries at need time, at required quality level and at best
cost.
The actual scenario of the hi-rel procurement is affected by an increased competition and high
reduction on target costs and delivery times.
It is fundamental to get over the old management rules which are no more consistent with the actual
reality. The answer consists by thinking of the Company in a global perspective, as a set of
processes, instead of a single functional unit.
In this context, Top-Rel, starting from the identification of all their activities, have identified their main
processes with the goal to improve their performance.
The first process has been identified on the technical activities dedicated to the implementation of the
detailed procurement specification for hi-rel parts.
The second process has been identified by the activity sequence performed in the parts procurement
area, up to release of the formal Purchase Order to the Manufacturer.
The third process has been the one related to the receiving of goods and relevant incoming
inspections.
